Criteria for winning this award includes a breakdown of the percentage of new hires that are veterans, the percentage of retained employees who are veterans, and the implementation of a veteran organization or resource group within the company. Additionally, HIRE Vets medallion winners incorporated leadership programs for veterans and other integration assistance systems such as pay differential programs and tuition assistance.

It has been LocalJobNetwork’s pleasure to partner with each of these employers to ensure a veteran hiring focus through positive outreach and relationship-building with our 15,000+ community-based organizations. LocalJobNetwork has also sent out 1.5 million job postings annually to veteran organizations, promoting these positions to mutually benefit the veteran job seekers and employers looking to hire them.

Targeting and welcoming veterans into their workforce is a giant first step that many companies have made in recent years – including the HIRE Vets Medallion Award winners – which is a testament to the value being placed on veteran hiring and retention.

The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is the only federal-level veterans’ employment award that recognizes a company or organization’s commitment to veteran hiring, retention, and professional development. For more information on the program, visit https://www.hirevets.gov/.
