Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be one of the darkest moments in one’s life. Last year alone, more than 1.7 million people in the United States were told they had cancer. This is why LocalJobNetwork employees joined in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) “Light the Night” walk to bring light to the darkness of cancer.
As part of the commitment to the cause, we joined the LLS Milwaukee chapter in their fundraising efforts to bring an end to blood-borne cancers. Altogether, LocalJobNetwork employees raised $5,000 to go towards LLS’s cancer research and family support initiatives.
Additionally, on October 3rd, 2019, LocalJobNetwork employees and their family members joined hundreds of other walkers at Veterans Park in Milwaukee to “Light the Night.” During the walk, everyone held colored lanterns to signify why each person was participating: white lanterns for cancer survivors, yellow lanterns in remembrance of those that have lost their cancer battle, and red lanterns to represent all other supporters. It was a beautiful reminder of the important work that is being done to bring an end to the darkness of cancer.
